how can we get the motocross industry to unite for the better of the sport?

Updated: Oct 25

This was written pre Corona.

I always thought that someday someone was gonna come along with the right ideas and do the things necessary to get the sport of motocross growing again. Like perhaps someone at the AMA or someone well known in the motocross industry with lots of knowledge and clout.

But after many years of thinking somebody somewhere must be working on this.. I haven't seen any new strategies or different things like creative marketing ideas or anything tried to try to get new people involved.

I never thought that someone would be me! … But I now believe that I am that someone... It sounds crazy to me to say that! and I feel like who am I to think this big, but I really believe that I have solutions that could help if the industry gets behind them!

(Have you ever heard the saying, be the change you wish to see in the world?)

I'm a superfan, I have been following the sport closely for 30 years, I have seen all the changes as they happened and I see lots of things that could have and should have been done differently.

I believe that I have the answers and solutions to get 10's of thousands of new people to participate in the sport of motocross. I don't say that lightly it is after a great deal of thought and research that I say that. I can't do it alone though. The only way to make this happen at scale is gonna be with participation from the industry.

I am also considered doing it as a non-profit organization or social enterprise I believe I have the blueprint, The formula, the strategy, I'm not sure what to call it? But I have a way that if we all rally together and get on the same page that we can grow the sport!

For those of us that remember what the turnouts used to look like, and know how much fun it is lining up against a full gate of 30 or 40 others knows that it's an indescribable feeling.

I remember racing the 125C class in the early 1990's which in my area was the (novice/beginner) class, and that class was so big at the time that they had to break it up into 3 separate heats of 30 to 40 riders.

While racing The feeling of either having a little crash and getting back up, or just getting a bad start and then passing 10-15 other guys was awesome, just the battle of it was so fun it didn't matter if you got 1st place or 25th place, that experience could never be duplicated in my opinion not by a practice day or by any other thing in life, to those of you that know what I'm talking about know. I believe we can get there again its just going to take a little effort and a strategic plan!

Do you think that there are any positive things for a kid that come from Riding a dirt bike? I do! Kids learn about dedication to a goal, discipline, hopefully some sportsmanship, and built physical and mental skills, and have some fun.

I believe We can bring the experience of motocross to lots of people that may have otherwise never tried it. I really got a lot out of it personally and it would make me feel good to be a part of bringing that experience into someone else's life.

I believe with nationwide Marketing, setting up free test rides and with a few tweaks to the rules that we could have a big resurgence in the sport. I have a plan that will let kids try riding small dirt bikes for the first time on a small track for free nationwide.

I have a plan to Do nationwide marketing for the sport of motocross.
